Saito Summer 15

Web Module – Web3 Websites

At Saito we don’t simply build on-chain applications, we use them. We engage with our community via Red Square, we host remote meetings using our Saito Call, and we livestream events with Swarmcast. We do this both because P2P, on-chain apps are better and more secure, and because part of making these apps polished is being our own test dummies.  So the fact that most people’s first point of contact to Saito was our Web 2 front page website didn’t sit well with us…

That’s why this week we’re relaunching the Saito website as a Saito Module. To the naked eye, this may seem a trivial change, but it’s important for many reasons. Visitors to our website will be using true Web 3 from the moment they click, perhaps the quickest time to adoption in the space. Not only does it make us more independent in how we host, but it opens the door for anyone to host their website on the Saito network.

It’s also a live demonstration and trailblazing for a new model of web hosting. On Saito, the data is transmitted P2P, saved in archive nodes, and hosted and sent only where it needs to be. Instead of registering with a hosting company, giving them bank details and relying on them, creators can simply host their content on Saito secured by their public key and accessible through a P2P blockchain network – nodes have all the right incentives to transmit the data built-in.

Decentralize your front-end smart-contract application on another chain by hosting it on Saito – secure it by enshrining your public key and the cryptographic hash of the markup. Start a blog and get paid in crypto hassle-free and with no publisher to share with. Integrate Swarmcast and run a live camera website. The possibilities are endless!

We advise anyone interested in getting their hands dirty to reach out to us – we’ll be testing the system and hunting bugs as we roll it out and use ourselves as guinea pigs. If you have any questions, leave them on Red Square and we’ll get them answered!

Web3 Curation Features

We’ve introduced a Web3 Curation to Red Square to give users easy control over their content policy. At the top of the feed, two options now exist: The Curated Feed provides a welcoming environment focused on community and newcomer-friendly content, while our Unfiltered Feed supports complete freedom of expression. Users can fine-tune their experience through customizable feed policies in their settings, and we encourage community feedback as we continue to refine these features.

Technical Performance Improvements

The previous week has been transformative for our platform’s performance. Our team tackled several challenging optimization issues head-on, resulting in significantly faster Saito Applications across the board. Users will notice smoother content loading, improved ordering systems, and an overall more responsive experience when interacting with the platform.

Token Persistence

The acceleration of our roadmap and Token Persistence is continuing, thanks in part to our new ATR dashboard and comprehensive test suite. This dashboard will serve the foundation for a new and sophisticated block explorer useful for users and internally. The Token Persistence value was recently lowered to 77,500.

Academic Engagement

Our latest Saito Social podcast featured an insightful conversation with Ross Green, recorded and hosted using our on-chain video conference technology. Ross’s book The Essential Guide to Blockchain Platforms features a section on Saito and can be purchased here.

On the academic front, we recently attended a mechanism design conference in Warsaw, where we engaged with mathematical economists to validate Saito’s novel proofs. These discussions have been particularly valuable in addressing misconceptions about incentive compatibility in computer science. Our research suggests we’re ahead of traditional VC-backed initiatives in this space.

LCX Bonus and EGLD Partnership

LCX, our most recent exchange listing, inaugurated their rewards program with a special bonus for Saito depositors! Congratulations to everyone who earned some extra Saito!

Our collaboration with the EGLD community continues to evolve, with developers from both communities exchanging promising ideas about potential integrations. We look forward to sharing more concrete developments from this partnership in the near future.
